Privacy Policy
Notiary ("we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it through our compliance with this policy. This Privacy Policy describes the types of information we may collect or that you may provide when you use the Notiary iOS Application (the "App") and our practices for collecting, using, maintaining, protecting, and disclosing that information.
1. 100% On-Device Processing
Notiary is designed with absolute privacy at its core. Unlike other voice transcription and assistant apps that process your recordings in the cloud, Notiary operates 100% locally on your iOS device.
- Audio Recordings: All audio recordings remain in your device's temporary sandbox directory and are never uploaded to any server.
- Transcripts: Voice notes are transcribed locally using WhisperKit running on your device's Apple Neural Engine.
- AI Analysis: Extraction of tasks, calendar events, and journal notes is processed locally by a llama.cpp engine running an on-device Qwen model in your device's RAM/GPU.
2. No Data Collection or Transmission
Because all processing is local:
- We do not operate backend servers to receive your voice data.
- We do not collect, store, or transmit your voice notes, text transcripts, reminders, calendar entries, or journal contents.
- We do not use any third-party analytics, tracking SDKs, or advertising networks inside the App.
- We do not collect any personal data, device information, or location statistics.
Notiary connects to Apple for App Store purchases and may download AI model files from third-party model hosting services such as Hugging Face. These downloads do not include your recordings, transcripts, notes, reminders, calendar entries, or Library content.
3. Device Permissions
To function correctly, the App requires certain iOS system permissions. These permissions are only used locally on your device:
- Microphone Access: Required to record audio notes. No audio is recorded unless you tap the record orb in the App.
- Calendar Access (EventKit): Required to save parsed event entries (like meetings or appointments) directly to your local Apple Calendar. The App will always present a review screen before saving anything.
- Reminders Access (EventKit): Required to save parsed actionable tasks to your Apple Reminders lists.
You can revoke these permissions at any time through your iOS Settings application under Privacy & Security.
4. Data Retention and Deletion
Your Library remains in the App's local storage until you delete individual captures or remove the App. Temporary recordings are deleted after processing unless you explicitly create a debug copy in a development build. Downloaded model files remain on the device until removed by the App or by deleting the App. Because Notiary does not receive your App content, there is no server-side account or personal-content database for us to delete.
5. Changes to Our Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make changes, we will post the updated policy on this page and revise the "Last Updated" date at the top. Because we do not collect your contact details, we cannot notify you of updates individually; please review this page periodically to stay informed.
